1st Tarporley Scout Group has three Cub Packs. The Cub Pack is the second section of the Scout Group following on from Beavers. Cubs are young people aged between 8 and 10 ½.
Our Packs are organised into small groups called Sixes, each headed up by an older Cub called a Sixer, and a Seconder who helps their Sixer. The Cubs will do various activities within their sixes, this may be working towards badges, discussing ideas for our Pack meetings or perhaps practising different skills.
While they are in the Pack, the Cubs will get a chance to try a wide range of activities as well as going on trips, days out, and on camps. We want to encourage the Cubs to try new things and have new experiences during their time with us. There are a range of different badges and challenge awards that the Cubs can work towards, some of these we will do together during Pack meetings, others can be done at home.
The badges and challenges look at lots of different areas including fitness, global issues and different beliefs. They encourage the boys to be creative and also importantly for us, to get involved in our Community. We have raised funds for the Cottage Hospital, visited the local churches, done litter sweeps around the village and visited the local Fire Station.
We encourage the Cubs to try new and exciting outdoor skills such as raft building, archery and climbing.
We take part in some of the activities organised by our District team at Chester, these have involved Craft Competitions, Swimming Galas, camps and days out. These events give our Cubs the chance to meet with other Cubs in the Chester District.
Most importantly during their time in the Packs we want the Cubs to have lots of fun, learn lots of new skills, take part in new activities and make friends.
