Food Bank 2023

Our first visit to the Mid Cheshire Foodbank for a few years took place on Wednesday 15th March.

26 plus leaders arrived with 107.5 kg of donations. Cubs were told all about the work the Foodbank does and then put to work to sort out their donations ready for distribution.

Many thanks to volunteer Peter who spent time with us.

Ice Rink 2023Ice Rink 2023 2On Saturday 4th March a joint visit to Deeside Ice Rink was enjoyed by Cubs from Portal & Arderne Cubs. The Cubs had a fantastic morning some gliding some sliding around the rink.

Thanks to Brum for organising it all.

HelloHello Hello

HelloHello Hello 2HelloHello Hello 3We had a visit on 1st March from Inspector Billington who talked to the Cubs about online safety & how to keep safe when out and about.
Cubs then had a chance to try on uniforms & have their finger prints taken before Inspector Billington made arrested one of our young leaders for not doing his homework.

2023 Craft Competition

This year's Chester & District Art & Craft Competition took place recently at the HQ of 1st Sandstone Scout Group at Bickerton.
2023 Craft Competition 2The theme for the event was space. Each team was asked to produce a space rocket, use modelling clay to make an alien and invite a backstory about the alien.
1st Tarporley Portal Pack entered two teams. Both did really well and produced some great models.
After the judges had marked the Cubs on team work, tidiness, planning and their end product one of the Portal Pack teams was declared the winner.
The team was made up of Ryley, Matthew, Mia & Francesca.
The team will now go on to represent the District at the Cheshire County Final in March.

1st Tarporley Portal Pack Cubs recently held their first camp since summer 2019.

Leaders and Cubs stayed at Chirk Bunkhouse over the weekend of 12th-14th August 2022, one of the hottest recorded with temperatures in the 30s!!

After very little sleep on Friday night and a few games on Saturday morning we set off on a hike to Chirk Castle. While there we invested 2 new Cubs while they were in the stocks, went down the dungeons and had all swords and daggers out to look at.

The pioneer Cubs built bridges in the woods which were well tested by Ark.

On our return to the bunkhouse a water fight was needed after the hike in the sun, it was enjoyed by all.

We then had a bingo session, a camp fire sing song and a slightly earlier night.

Sunday saw us off out again this time for a walk through a long and very dark tunnel, this was followed by a visit to the local park where the Cubs did a litter pick.

More games and the annual teddy bear competition took place, sadly Ark's bear did not get a mention again!!

It was fantastic to be back at camp with the Cubs, they were brilliant.
